    Create campaign

You’re on the right track! Campaigns are what it’s all about. You need to communicate with your recipients, and below you’ll find a thorough walkthrough of the different things you can consider when you want to send a campaign.

Before you can send a campaign, you need to have created a list and imported members.

You also need a verified sender profile.

    Create campaign

A campaign is created in three phases:

    1. Information
    1. Design and setup
    1. Test and approve

We’ll start with information. After clicking Campaign –> Create new campaign, you’ll see the screen below.

Campaign type lets you choose whether you want to send an email, an SMS, an SMS+, or web push if you’ve purchased that add-on. In this case, choose email.

Under Send type you can choose between Standard campaign, recurring campaign, and A/B split test campaign. For the latter, you can find a more detailed guide here (link: Create destination and have Products create the guide). Recurring campaign lets you have a campaign automatically send out again and again at a specific time:

You choose the time and date for the first send, and whether the campaign repeats on one or more specific weekdays or on one or more specific dates (e.g., on the 1st and 15th of a month). Finally, you choose whether the campaign should have an end date or not.

For now, though, we’ll choose standard campaign and then move on to selecting list and segment. You can read more about simple segmentation and advanced segmentation by clicking the links in the text.

Campaign name is the internal name you choose for the campaign. It’s not immediately visible to users. This vague wording is because the campaign name is, by default, part of the UTM parameters, so some of your users may be able to see the campaign name from the URL when they’ve clicked in the email. Read more about UTM parameters and link tracking.

Labels are internal keywords you can choose to use on your campaigns. By using labels, you can more easily search through previously sent campaigns and get an overview of them. Many people use labels to split campaigns by, for example, “season pass”, “offer”, “Christmas greeting”, etc.

In the next box, you can choose the specific send time and which sender profile you want to use as the sender for the campaign. This is also where you write your subject line and your preheader. Try to keep your subject line under 30–50 characters and the preheader under 40–90 characters.

When the fields are filled in, click Next, choose your template, and design the email. Finally, you can test the campaign before you approve it. If you need help designing the email, you can read more about our drag-and-drop editor.
