    The video element allows you to insert a video into your email.

    In this guide, we’ll walk through how to set up a video element and what you can expect from the video display when the campaign is sent.

    Why use the video element in your campaigns?

    Use the video element as a powerful tool to strengthen your communication, create presence, and increase the impact of your campaigns.

    By using the video element, you give your recipient a more lively and engaging experience. Videos can convey messages faster and more effectively than text alone, and they often create higher interaction and increased interest in your content. With a correctly set up video display, you ensure that the recipient gets a professional and polished experience – while maintaining attention within your own newsletter.

    Setting up video element

    On step 2, where you build your email, you can insert a video element. First, you need to insert a cell in your layout. When the cell is in place, you can drag the video element into the cell:


    When you’ve added the video element, you get access to the video settings on the right side of the video cell:

    Under video settings, you have the following options:

    • Video link: Insert the URL of the video you want to display. The video must be hosted externally – for example on YouTube or Vimeo. It’s not possible to upload video directly to Heyloyalty.
    • Horizontal alignment: Choose how the video should be positioned horizontally in the cell.
    • Open video: Here you have two options:
    • At the video host service: When you click on the video in the email, you’ll be taken to the video host’s platform where the video will be played
    • In the email’s browser view: When you click on the video in the email, it will open the email in the browser and from there the recipient can watch the video in the browser

    Alt text: Provide a brief description of the video’s content. This is used by screen readers and improves accessibility.

    Note: It can often be an advantage to play the video via the email’s online version. This way you keep the recipient in your own universe and avoid distractions like ads and suggested videos on video platforms. When the video is displayed in the online version of the newsletter, you have full control over the recipient’s experience.

    When the video element is set up, your email is ready to be sent. The video will appear in the email with this layout:
